Webinar: First Rights of Nature Enforcement Case Filed in the U.S. – Wilde Cypress Branch v. Beachline

Watch our recent webinar on the first Rights of Nature enforcement case to be filed in the United States – Wilde Cypress Branch v. Beachline. It features our presenters:

Chuck O’Neal, Plaintiff serving as guardian of the waterways

Steve Meyers, Florida attorney representing the Plaintiffs

Thomas Linzey, Senior Counsel, Center for Democratic and Environmental Rights (CDER), which is helping litigate the case

The webinar focuses on this first case in the U.S. to be brought by nature to enforce its legal rights. The case was brought to defend the rights of waterways that would be violated by a proposed commercial development that would destroy wetlands, while also impacting lakes, streams, and marshes. This webinar covers the Orange County rights of nature law, the history of the lawsuit, and the arguments being advanced by the Plaintiff-waterways.
